Justice for Heroes NFP stands with the families and survivors of state-sponsored terrorism, helping them afford the fight for justice. When those who served our nation become victims of terror, they shouldn't face financial barriers to seeking accountability. We bridge that gap, ensuring every American hero has access to the legal resources they need.
The Justice for Heroes team includes Roger Patterson, with other dedicated U.S. military veterans and those serving in a civilian DoD Law Enforcement program, with a mission to "save Soldiers and Marines lives." Their service didn't end when they took off the uniform. After witnessing first-hand, the devastating impact of state-sponsored terrorism on American service members and their families, we founded Justice for Heroes NFP in Missouri with a singular mission: to ensure that no victim of terrorism is denied justice because they lack the knowledge or the access to legal recourse.
Throughout their military and law enforcement careers, Roger Patterson and the team of professionals learned the meaning of service, sacrifice, and standing up for what's right. They saw brothers and sisters (and later nephews and nieces) in arms who gave everything for our freedom, only to face insurmountable obstacles when seeking accountability for acts of terror committed against them. Justice for Heroes represents our team's unwavering commitment to these heroes -- a promise that their fight for justice will not be fought alone.
The Justice for Heroes team believes that when our nation's protectors become victims, we have a sacred duty to stand with them. Through this nonprofit, we are transforming that belief into action, one family at a time.
When American service members and their families become victims of state-sponsored terrorism, the path to justice often seems impossible. Beyond the trauma and grief, they face staggering financial obstacles -- filing fees, legal costs, expert witness expenses, document translations, and investigation costs that can total tens of thousands of dollars.
Court costs and administrative expenses required to initiate legal proceedings against state sponsors of terrorism
Professional legal representation essential for navigating complex international law and terrorism cases
Resources needed to gather evidence, conduct research, and build compelling cases for accountability
Professional translation of foreign documents and testimony critical to establishing the facts of each case
Justice for Heroes NFP eliminates these barriers. We provide direct financial assistance to cover the costs that stand between victims and their day in court. Every dollar donated goes toward empowering American heroes to hold those responsible for acts of terror accountable. Because justice delayed is justice denied -- and our heroes have waited long enough.
The cost of seeking justice should never be an obstacle for those who sacrificed for our freedom. Justice for Heroes bridges the financial gap that too often prevents victims of state-sponsored terrorism from accessing the legal system. Our support makes a tangible difference in the lives of military families across all five branches of service.
In late 2022, Roger Patterson was contacted by an online class student of his seeking expert witness and investigative guidance on filing a pro se lawsuit and on the United States Victims' State-Sponsored Terrorism (USVSST) process. As we provided recommendations, a plan evolved to assist Gold Star families and others impacted by state-sponsored terrorism.
The United States Congress created the USVSST fund via statute and provides compensation to a specific group of international terrorism victims harmed by state-sponsored terrorism. The fund has amended its governing statute several times.
The Justice for Heroes team conducts outreach to families and surviving victims by raising awareness of potential litigation and the USVSST process, and partners with law firms representing victims to provide investigative assistance, expert witness testimony, and other actions in support of the plaintiffs.
As some law firms are apprehensive about representing individual clients for state-sponsored terrorism litigation because of the attorney fee cap from the USVSST fund and the costs of developing the case, this can provide a barrier to many families and surviving victims in pursuing justice.
Our team's support reduces litigants' costs, thereby increasing accessibility and enabling plaintiffs and their attorneys to present successful arguments in U.S. federal court.
Many, not just a few, can achieve vindication in court.
We are actively involved in assisting victims in the pursuit of justice and continue our outreach to raise awareness with other families and surviving victims.

"Justice for Heroes is a response to injustice. It is an answer to families' cries for help. It is a mission to protect those who once protected us."
